Las Vegas Lights FC goalkeeper Thomas Olsen will be joining fellow USL Western Conference club Sacramento Republic FC on loan until Sept. 15.
In exchange for the loan, Sacramento will send an international player roster spot to Lights FC, freeing the club up to add an international signee during the remaining stretch of the 2018 season.
The move leaves Las Vegas still with two goalkeepers on the roster, in Ricardo Ferriño and Angel Alvarez.
Olsen, a Las Vegas native who starred at Bishop Gorman High School, would be re-joining Lights FC before it has its second meeting of the season with Sacramento Republic FC, which comes on Saturday, Oct. 13, in Sacramento. The match will be Lights FC’s regular season finale.
Following last Thursday’s conclusion of a 4-game July road trip, Lights FC returns home for the first of three August home matches on Saturday, August 4, at 8 p.m. against Rio Grande Valley FC Toros. The first match day at Cashman Field as part of the month’s “Saturday Night Lights” promotional slate, August 4 will be Backpack Night, with the first 2,000 kids 12-and-under in attendance receiving a free Lights FC backpack, presented by Boston Dental Group.
