The Lights’ captain provided two assists that kept the Lights in the fight throughout the match against Lexington SC
Las Vegas Lights FC forward Christian Pinzon was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 33 on Tuesday morning.
Pinzon was selected for Team of the Week honors after a phenomenal individual performance in the Lights’ 5-3 defeat to Lexington SC at Cashman Field, providing two assists that kept the team in the fight throughout the match.
Down 2-1 towards the end of the first half, the Lights pushed forward incessantly looking for a goal to level with the opposition. And that’s precisely what they found when Christian Pinzon connected with Oalex Anderson, whose precious curling effort went right into goalkeeper Oliver Semmle’s upper-left corner to tie things up.
Pinzon’s second assist came in the second half. Despite losing 4-2, the Lights continued pushing forward with the intention of narrowing the gap. Pinzon intelligently found space inside the box and sent a precise pass to Patrick Leal, who smashed the ball into the net to give the Lights a fighting chance in the final minutes of the game.
With his two assists against Lexington SC, Christian Pinzon reached a total of ten assists in USL Championship regular season play to lead the league in that metric.
The Lights will travel to California to square off against Monterey Bay FC on Saturday, October 24 to end the regular season.
