25-year-old defender brings more than 5,000 minutes of pro soccer experience to the Lights

Las Vegas Lights FC today announced the club has signed defender Nyk Sessock, pending league and federation approval.
Sessock is under contract with the Lights through 2026 with a club option for 2027.
The right back made 17 appearances for Atlanta United 2 in MLS NEXT Pro and four appearances for Atlanta United in MLS and Leagues Cup last season.
“We’re excited to add Nyk to the group as preseason gets underway,” said Sporting Director Gianleonardo Neglia. “His performances in the pro ranks with the Inter Miami and Atlanta United organizations, along with his successful collegiate track record, have shown that he’s ready for a new step in his career. His high-energy profile at outside back fits well with our style of play under Head Coach Devin Rensing, and I look forward to the competition for places at this position group during preseason.”
A product of YSC Academy, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Union, Sessock spent the first two years of his collegiate career with the University of Pittsburgh, where he won the first ACC Tournament in Pitt’s history. He played 37 matches for the Panthers, contributing with one goal and two assists.
In 2020, he transferred to Indiana University. With the Hoosiers, Sessock made 58 appearances across three seasons, contributing with eight assists and helping his side keep an impressive 29 clean sheets (a 50% shutout rate). In his senior season, he received Big Ten All-Tournament Team honors.
In 2023, the Philadelphia native joined Inter Miami II in MLS NEXT Pro. In his two seasons in Miami, Sessock led the team in minutes played (4,228), chances created (56), and big chances created (13). He made 55 appearances for Miami, scoring twice and contributing with 11 assists, helping the team make the playoffs in 2024.
Sessock joined the Atlanta United organization in 2025, making appearances for both the first and the second team. He made his first team debut on June 12, 2025, coming on as a substitute in a 4-0 away defeat to New York City. He would also earn significant playing time in Leagues Cup, playing the full 90 and contributing with an assist to Atlanta’s 4-1 victory over historic Mexican side Atlas.
Las Vegas will kick off the 2026 home schedule on Saturday, March 28 against Monterey Bay FC.
