Las Vegas Lights FC today announced that goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena has earned a Cuban National Team senior roster call-up. Cuba is set for their final two group stage matches of the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League A.
As group play for Group B wraps up, Cuba will face Trinidad & Tobago twice, once at home (Oct. 10) and once on the road (Oct. 14).
The Lights’ goalkeeper, 27, has appeared 12 times for Cuba’s senior roster after making his debut in November of 2022. His experience spans FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF Nations League and CONCACAF Gold Cup in addition to international friendlies at the senior level.
In the first match of Nations League group play against Jamaica on September 6, Arozarena started the match and pitched a shutout in a valuable 0-0 draw. The goalkeeper made seven saves while his team played the entire second half down to 10 men.
Cuba currently sits in fourth place of the six-team group, one point clear of the bottom two relegation spots to Nations League B. They are two points back from Nicaragua in second place as they chase a top two finish and qualification to the Nations League A quarterfinals.
In USL Championship play, Arozarena has started 22 regular season contests for the Lights and has notched seven clean sheets, in addition to a start and victory in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play. His seven regular-season shutouts this season is second on the club’s all-time single-season shutout list.
Las Vegas Lights FC play on the road this weekend at Birmingham Legion FC on October 13 before returning home for Fan Appreciation Night against Oakland Roots SC on October 19. After clinching the club’s first-ever playoff berth last weekend, the Lights now have their eyes on clinching home field advantage for the first round of playoffs. Beginning at just $20 for all fans, single-match tickets to the regular season finale are available at lasvegaslightsfc.com.
