Las Vegas Lights FC Head Coach Dennis Sanchez
On his overall impressions on the match…
We knew coming into it that Pittsburgh is a team and a club that we respect, especially with Bob Lilley. I don’t think their record is indicative of their performances that they’ve had throughout the season. I’m really happy for the guys. Guys stepped up and made plays tonight.
On his decision to start Raiko Arozarena in goal and his two massive saves…
There’s been good competition with our starting goalkeeper position this season. We’ve given all three of them a good opportunity. Raiko has been training hard and has been ready for the moment. He stepped up big time for us tonight.
On Khori Bennett’s impressive goalscoring form…
He’s doing fantastic. We’ve always known that he has the ability to score goals. He’s obviously gaining more and more confidence every single game. We’re putting him in good spots, and he’s taking them. I’m really happy for him.
On turning a result from a draw into a win…
It was a very collective team effort. Guys stepped up and made plays. Goals change games, and we found a way to win. We’re going to continue to build off this momentum.
On the boost of jumping over the playoff line before embarking on a four-match road trip…
We just want to keep taking it one game at a time. My message to the guys tonight before the match was that we have 51 points available [through the end of the season]. The point being is that we still very much control our own destiny. You can see how tight the Western Conference is in terms of points. We’re going to continue to take it one game at a time. We know that we can compete with anybody. We’re just looking for consistency and for guys to step up like they did tonight.
