Lights FC Head Coach Dennis Sanchez
On his overall impressions on the match…
It was definitely a rollercoaster. With the way that we want to play, we want to be brave on the ball. Sometimes that can lead to mistakes. I’m not going to stop the players from building out of the back and playing our way, it’s just improving our decision-making process and how we react when we do lose the ball. The guys showed great resilience in coming back to find a late goal, which we feel like is enough to secure the game. The next step for us as a group is to find ways to win and learn how to win.
On if this result feels like one point gained or two points lost…
With the way that it transpired going up 3-2 with the time that we gave up the third goal, the guys definitely feel disappointed. Part of developing a winning mentaility is not to be satisfied with ties. We need to bring the disappointment and turn it around in the right way and bring that energy to the match on Saturday against a good Memphis team.
On Solomon Asante’s energy and performance off the bench…
He’s a guy who’s improving each game. I wanted to give Christian Pinzón a shot tonight because he’s coming back from injury. Solo has the ability to not only score goals but create goals and he continues to do that for us.
On regrouping for another home match on the weekend against Memphis 901 FC…
We need to rest and recover. It’ll be a lighter few days. I’ll need to rotate a few guys just to keep a level of freshness, but we started this stretch of four games in a really short period and we can walk away on a high note.
