Rodriguez scored and assisted in the Lights’ 2-2 draw against Oakland Roots SC at Cashman Field.

Las Vegas Lights FC forward Johnny Rodriguez was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week Bench for Week 32 on Tuesday morning.
Rodriguez earned his spot on the Team of the Week Bench after being directly involved in the Lights’ two goals that led to a 2-2 draw against Western Conference rivals Oakland Roots, scoring the first goal and assisting the second.
Oakland took the lead in the 29th minute via striker Peter Wilson, but the Lights quickly responded two minutes later when a Johnny Rodriguez effort from the edge of the box was deflected, fooling goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh and heading into the net to make things level.
Oakland would once again put themselves ahead on the scoresheet thanks to Danny Trejo in the 56th minute, pushing the Lights to relentlessly pursue a goal to even things out. And they found such goal in the 87th minute, when a Giorgio Probo lob found Johnny Rodriguez, who would elegantly use his chest to serve Stefan Stojanovic with a beautiful assist that was crowned by a magnificent strike to make things 2-2.
Johnny Rodriguez tallies 12 goal contributions in 31 matches across all competitions this season, scoring 10 goals and contributing with two assists.
