Las Vegas Lights FC Head Coach Dennis Sanchez
Overall thoughts on the match:
Difficult place to come and play. My message to the guys after the game was that I think the last two weekends have been good learning opportunities for us.
Last week was about being better in transition, which I thought we did a better job of that tonight. And then, you get caught in set pieces tonight. Two chances which really come from nothing.
So, for me, it’s a learning opportunity for the guys. But, I also said to them that next week is a new season. They’re deserving to be in this spot to be in. There’s a reason we’re not in the playoff spot on the last night because of the consistency and success they had over the course of the season.
We’re not going to be judged by the last two games of the season. The biggest thing is to take this as a learning opportunity, to use the disappoint that we felt and last weekend as motivation to have the right energy and mindset coming into the playoffs.
Despite the negative result, positive takeaways from tonight or the season as a whole:
I think that the trend is you’re seeing teams adjust to us.
We want to continue to be the protagonist. It’s another game where we’re close to 70% possession with the ball. I think that we can be more dangerous in the final third.
But, look, I couldn’t be more proud of the guys for what we’ve accomplished this year. Nobody picked us to be in the place that we’re in. We have already achieved a lot this year. But, I know this group and I know myself, and we’re going to continue to be hungry for more.
