Lights FC Head Coach Dennis Sanchez
On his overall impressions of the match…
Some games aren’t going to be as pretty as we want them to be. El Paso posed a different type of challenge for us sitting in a mid-block and being patient with their press. I’m proud of the guys because they kept going. I felt that in time we were going to be able to create chances and fortunately we scored two goals.
On a third straight win, including two to begin this four-match road trip…
Really happy for the guys. We challenged the group a month ago about how we can turn these performances into wins and we’re doing that. Regardless of the teams that we’re playing and their records, you always have to go out and perform. We got the job done.
On a third consecutive clean sheet and another strong performance from Raiko Arozarena…
Anytime you’re winning games, you’re gaining confidence. The back four have shown that they can work well together, and the expectation is that our goalkeeper comes up big when needed. Raiko’s been fantastic over this last set of games and playing to his capabilities like we know he can do.
On the attacking performance of Valentin Noël…
Val is always dangerous for us. This system and structure allow him to play in really dangerous areas and there’s a level of freedom in the structure that we want him to have. He’s an intelligent player who can really break down opposition on a weekly basis.
On the team’s plan for the upcoming bye week…
We’re getting away. We’re going to rest emotionally, physically, mentally. We’ve played the most games in the USL Championship right now, so it’s a needed break to let the guys get away and live life a little bit and then come back in fully refreshed and ready for the second part of the season.
