Las Vegas Lights FC is set to have a pair of its players join their respective senior national teams for upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena (Cuba) and midfielder Edison Azcona (Dominican Republic).
Arozarena and the Cuba National Team begin Group A play and face Honduras (June 6) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras before hosting the Cayman Islands (June 11) in Santiago de Cuba.
Meanwhile, Azcona and the Dominican Republic senior team open Group E play against Jamaica (June 5) in Kingston, Jamaica before hosting the British Virgin Islands (June 10) in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.
Arozarena, 27, has appeared five times for Cuba’s senior roster after making his debut in November of 2022.
Azcona, 20, has four appearances with the senior roster dating back to 2021 and also has experience at the Under-23 (three appearances, one goal) and U-21 level (six appearances, four goals).
In USL Championship play, Arozarena has started eight regular-season contests for the Lights and has notched three clean sheets in net, securing a start and victory as well in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup play. Azcona has recorded nine appearances (six starts) and one assist in regular-season action and also added an assist across two Lamar Hunt US Open Cup matches earlier this year.
While Arozarena and Azcona are away on international duty through June 12, the Lights remain home for their second home match of the month of June when they face Miami FC on Saturday, June 8 at Cashman Field (7:30 p.m. PT / National: ESPN+, Local: SSSEN & FOX5)
