Road contests against Sacramento Republic FC, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to air on CBS Sports Network this season
LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Lights FC will take the national spotlight twice in the upcoming 2024 USL Championship season as it squares off with Sacramento Republic FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on CBS Sports Network as part of the league’s national broadcast schedule this season.
The USL Championship announced on Tuesday a multi-year renewal of its broadcast agreement with ESPN which will allow fans to enjoy all the action in the upcoming season on CBS Sports and ESPN networks.
The Lights will first feature on CBS Sports Network on Wednesday, July 3 as it visits Republic FC, one of the preseason favorites to lift the USL Championship title. A season ago, Sacramento finished on top of the Western Conference standings and reached the Western Conference Final of the 2023 USL Championship Playoffs before being eliminated by eventual title-winner Phoenix Rising FC.
The contest will see current Lights defender Emrah Klimenta return to face his former club at Heart Health Park. The veteran center back was a key part of Republic FC’s squad when it claimed the USL Championship title in its inaugural season in 2014. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
The Lights will then head to Colorado Springs on Friday, July 26 to square off with the Switchbacks at Weidner Field in a clash that could prove full of entertainment. Las Vegas’ attack, led by two-time USL Championship Player of the Year Solomon Asante and young Dominican Republic talent Edison Azcona, will try to earn the Lights their first road victory against Colorado Springs since the 2019 season. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT.
This season sees a record number of national broadcasts of the USL Championship and USL League One, with 35 combined regular season and playoff matches to be televised across the league’s two national media rights partners, CBS Sports and ESPN. Las Vegas Lights FC will kick off the new campaign on Saturday, March 9 when it visits Memphis 901 FC before its home opener against FC Tulsa on Saturday, March 16 at Cashman Field.
