On Tuesday morning, Las Vegas Lights FC announced that Technical Director Chelís has left the club.
“Our club’s goal firmly continues to be the next great American soccer success story both on and off the field,” Lights FC Owner & CEO Brett Lashbrook said. “We fully recognize that our results in all aspects must continue to improve to achieve this goal.”
Assuming all coaching and personnel duties is Head Coach Isidro Sánchez, who has had a strong presence with the team all season, both on Mach Day and daily on the training pitch.
The team has six matches remaining in 2018, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. on the road in the third and final leg of the inaugural Silver State Cup against in-state rival Reno 1868 FC.
“When things are changing, you can lose your stability, so that’s when you need to grab and stick to the principles and the basics,” Sánchez said. “The first part of that is asking yourself ‘Why have I decided to be here?’ Everyone needs to stick to that principle these last four weeks, these last six matches.”
The closing stretch of the club’s inaugural season also features three matches at Cashman Field, including two next week. Lights FC will host Orange County SC on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m., followed by the first Bobblehead Night in club history on Saturday, Sept. 29, when the first 5,000 fans in the gates to see Lights FC take on OKC Energy FC will receive a bobblehead of mascot “Cash the Soccer Rocker.”
The final run of matches will come against several of the USL Western Conference’s top outfits, but the players are poised and focused to still finish the campaign on as strong a note as possible.
“We respect (Isidro) and trust him, because he’s been trusting in us all season,” Lights FC midfielder and captain Carlos Alvarez said. “We just need to keep working and fighting for him. We’re coming with the same respect and energy to be ready to perform on Saturday.”
